Insurance

How far a policy covers a cargo loss often depends on a few lines in the contract. We review the policy before loading and run the claim and recovery after a loss.

  • Loss assessment and recovery actions
  • Liability insurance
  • Review of policies and clauses
  • Reinsurance disputes
  • Allocation of liability between carrier and insurer

Before the goods are loaded

Cover, exclusions, the insured value and the notice obligations are set in the policy, but they only work if they match the sales contract and the delivery term. We read both together and flag the gaps while they can still be closed.

After a loss

We notify the insurer within the policy deadlines, follow the survey and assemble the claim file. Once the loss is paid, we pursue recovery against the carrier or any other liable party.

Disputes between insurers

We also act in liability and reinsurance disputes between carriers, insurers and reinsurers.

Example scenario

Machine parts bound for Addis Ababa are damaged in transit. Notice to the insurer, follow-up of the loss survey and the recovery action against the carrier are run as one file.
